Biography 2026 — Andrea T. Barbiero
Andrea T. Barbiero (Vicenza, 1984) grows up in a “non-conventional” creative environment, where art is a way of observing the world even before being a discipline. This attitude accompanies him from the beginning and becomes the foundation of his research: understanding human behavior through forms, materials, and landscape.
Early Years and Barcelona
In 2010 he moved to Barcelona, a city that marked the beginning of his artistic path. There he came into contact with pop surrealism and began exhibiting in galleries and public spaces, developing an instinctive, narrative visual language closely tied to imagination.
Residencies in France
From 2014 to 2017 he participated in residencies with the St. Henri association in Castelnaudary, near Toulouse. The French experience strengthened his relationship with manual work, collective dimension, and dialogue with the landscape—elements that would become central to his future practice.
Return to Vicenza and Transition to Sculpture
Between 2017 and 2018 he returned to Vicenza, where he also exhibited for the Festival Biblico. During these years he approached sculpture, deepening his exploration of form, balance, and tension. In 2019 he presented his first solo exhibition at &Artgallery, initiating new collaborations and a more structural research approach.
The Shift to Land Art
From 2020 onward, his practice moved toward Land Art and site-specific installations. He created works for institutions and territories, including:
Municipality of Bassano del Grappa (VI)
Biennale del Baldo Festival (VR, 2021), in collaboration with Fondazione Cariverona
Bacchiglione Springs Park (VI, 2021)
Municipality of Sesto al Reghena (PN, 2024)
Municipality of Fontaniva (PD, 2025)
His installations often use bamboo, scaffolding, and natural materials, treated as temporary organisms that interact with the site. The structure becomes a living body: flexible, resistant, balanced between order and instability. This material choice forms the DNA of his language.
Performance and Research on Limits
In 2022 he created 504, a 21-day continuous performance inside the C.U.B.O. space, where he explored confinement as a tool to investigate limits, time, and self-perception. The work marked a decisive shift toward a practice combining body, endurance, and architecture.
Themes and Poetics
Barbiero’s research focuses on:
inner calm as a form of resistance
unconscious human behaviors
duality as an interpretative key
landscape as an organism to coexist with
Artistic Profile
Visual artist whose research centers on the relationship between body, structure, and landscape. His practice develops through sculpture, site-specific installations, and performance, with particular attention to human behavior, natural processes, and duality as a conceptual key. He uses bamboo, scaffolding, and natural materials as primary architectural elements, treating them as temporary organisms that interact with the context. His works explore balance, limits, resistance, and inner calm.
Research Areas
Sculpture and ephemeral architectures
Environmental installations and Land Art
Performances related to physical and perceptual limits
Study of human behavior and unconscious languages
Relationship between nature, structure, and balance
Duality as a conceptual matrix (tension/calm, interior/exterior, fragility/resilience)
Materials and Language
Bamboo and scaffolding structures form the architectural foundation of his work. These materials, chosen for their resilience and flexibility, become tools to investigate the relationship between stability and transformation, construction and adaptation. The works are conceived as temporary organisms that “breathe” with the place and interpret its tensions.
Poetic Summary
inner calm as a compass
unconscious human behavior
duality as an interpretative key
landscape as an organism to coexist with
Barbiero’s practice originates from observing human behavior and natural processes. His works—whether sculptures, installations, or performances—are devices that question how we inhabit space, time, and our own limits. Inner calm, repetition of gesture, construction as meditation, and relationship with landscape are central elements of his work.
